This homeowner was cold in the winter and hot in the summer. He had a couple dozen recessed lighting fixtures and in adequate insulation. We Air sealed his attic and upgraded his insulation to R60. We also built him an air sealed and insulated storage deck. The end result was a much more comfortable house and lower utility bills.

Jeremy found Mold in the attic of his Coraopolis home; he also knew his insulation would need removed and replaced.   Jeremy searched online and found Home Environment Solutions.  Not only could they remediate the mold they could remove and replace the insulation.

The HES team arrived and removed the hold dirty insulation  treated the mold damaged wood  and added air sealing and blown in Cellulous insulation.

We sent our expert Russ out to her home to perform a free home energy audit. Russ found old batt insulation, a non-insulated scuttle cover and unsealed penetrations such as wire and pipe runs.

We sent our insulation team out and they removed all the old insulation and disposed of it. Installed Silverglo along attic deck, installed titeshell over top of can lights and sealed with zipfoam. They also sealed and insulated scuttle cover, air sealed all penetrations interior and exterior and installed Trusoft cellulose.  

Angelo reached out after noticing a musty odor and visible mold in his attic. In addition to the mold concerns, the upstairs of the home experienced hot and cold temperature swings, making it uncomfortable throughout the year.

Our team addressed the problem at the source. We performed professional mold remediation in the attic, disinfecting and treating the affected areas. Contaminated materials were properly removed, and the attic was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

While completing the remediation, we also upgraded the attic system to improve performance. We sealed and insulated the attic, encapsulated the duct system to reduce energy loss, dense-packed insulation where needed, installed insulation dams, sealed top plates, and improved attic access by installing a new pull-down ladder. These improvements also created better attic storage and safer access for future use.

With the mold eliminated and the attic properly sealed and insulated, Angelo’s home now smells clean, the upstairs temperatures are more stable, and overall energy performance has improved.
